Jacob left for Africa today. He said he was tired of saying goodbye, was ready to go, but was not looking forward to being on the plane for 17 hours...especially without a cigarette. He was in Philadelphia for two days and met the other volunteers, 9 women, 7 men. There are 80 Peace Corps volunteers in Malawi today. While in Philly, he learned that he would be in Johannesburg for a day and is really looking forward to that. Tony Paul drove all the way to Philly to be with Jake for his last American dinner. What a guy! Jake said he felt confident after meeting the volunteers because he had already served in the Peace Corps and the other volunteers were asking him tons of questions...already the mentor :)
